Why Morelli | Stock Management

Stock Management Systems
The Morelli Group recognises the need for customers to efficiently manage their stocks to improve their cash flow and minimise downtime. We therefore offer a tailor-made Stock Management programme to suit individual requirements. Each customer's needs are different, which means that the Morelli Stock Management programme has to be flexible with stock levels being set after full consultation with the customer. The system can be manual or automated, but all methods however consist of the following elements: -

Stock Appraisal
An initial bodyshop survey will be carried out of existing stocks to determine value and possible areas of overstocks.

Purchase Assessment
A comparison of 3 months of previous purchase invoices is carried out to determine actual usage and to set meaningful stock levels. This also establishes any special product requirements.

Stock Control Systems
A Morelli Stock Merchandiser visits once or twice weekly, as required, to reorder stocks at pre-agreed levels and by consultation. We aim for a single delivery per order to reduce paperwork and downtime to an absolute minimum.

Constant Inventory
We make a commitment to customers that the value of their stock will run at no more than 40-45% of the sterling monthly total of their spend on paint and consumables. We also ensure that only current stocks are held, and conduct regular stock cleanses to ensure that the customer has no redundant stocks. Either monthly, quarterly or annually, we can conduct stock-takes for customers to establish a sterling valuation at both trade and net cost, and report accordingly. This procedure ensures that both the constant inventory principles are adhered to and also that the stock rotation accurately reflect the customers current stock requirements. Our Stock Merchandisers are non-commission based, thus eliminating the temptation to  overstock customers.

Imprest Stock
We can offer imprest stock to larger customers, which is only paid for on use. This 1-2 weeks working stock of both wet and dry goods releases a large amount of cash for the bodyshop. It is a condition of installation of an imprest stock that the stock management is carried out by a Morelli Stock Merchandiser to manage the re-order process as above.
