2008: Morelli Supply paint for MTV's Pimp My
Ride
Morelli Group have recently supplied paint and materials
for a special charity project for MTV’s Pimp My Ride.
The project came about as part of an initiative by the Met Police to combat
youth violence. The Met police donated a riot van, and with a bit of help
from MTV and EMI, the van has been turned in to a mobile meeting place
for youngsters in London by XLP, a charity that specialises in promoting
music and drama.
The finished van is equipped with a side-door that swings up to reveal
a 40 inch plasma screen and Xbox with wireless controllers, a fully functional
professional music studio, 3 laptops, camcorder and a light responsive
vinyl wall (for light graffiti). A full-size basketball hoop lies flat
on the roof and extends by remote-control from the rear of the resprayed
van.

The van's bull bars, protective windscreen cage and blue
flashing lights have been replaced with carbon fibre and white leather
fittings. The vehicle has been finished in a brilliant black sparkly paint
job, with Graffiti over the top. The work on the van was done
by Aziz from Euro American, a Morelli Group customer based in North London.

Superintendent John Sutherland, of the
Met, said not all areas have activities for young people so a
mobile youth club made "perfect sense". He said: "The Met
Police are committed to doing whatever it takes to make London a safer
place for young people. "The fact this particular project has been
developed by MTV's Pimp My Ride team is a major boost to its profile amongst
those we are trying so hard to reach."
The van will be used in London boroughs including Southwark, Lewisham,
Bexley, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Greenwich and Islington.
The show will go out on MTV One (Sky Channel 350) on the 30th
November at 7pm.
