April 2009: Atherstone Repair Centre Installs Latest Drying Technology

During recent improvement works Morelli Group account Atherstone Repair Centre installed a new spraybooth with an energy-saving infrared, high temperature drying system for spraybooths from Eco Repair Systems.

The CADIF Infra-Red Drying High Temperature (IRDHT) Plus claims to be the only infra-red system that’s used for both the spray and bake cycles, eliminating completely the need to burn gas or oil. The IRD panels are fitted on the booth walls and project less than 30mm so do not encroach on space, there are also HT panels located on the ceiling for maximum efficiency.

Bob Taylor, Atherstone MD is delighted with its performance and has seen greatly improved drying times along with large savings on utility bills. “The system heats up quickly and generates up to 350°C on the ceiling panels to warm the vehicle which helps to cure the paint from the inside out speeding up drying times greatly”.

To prevent solvent build up, a forced ventilation system automatically operates every 10-15 minutes, changing the air inside the booth. In addition, the IRDHT Plus system can be operated in four separate zones to give maximum flexibility and with repayments no greater than the energy savings made, an interest-free loan from The Carbon Trust if granted can help the system pay for itself.
