August 2011: Morelli Group supply paint for Spurs "MotoGP" style Motorcycle
The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and Southgate College have teamed up to deliver a special educational project and in so doing achieved something worthy of the Foundation's motto - "Creating Opportunities that Change Lives"
Southgate College is a specialist provider for motor technology and motorsports training and is also an Education and Football Development Centre for the Foundation. Eight of its Students were given an innovative project to convert a CBR600 Road Motorcycle into a "MotoGP" style track bike.
A major part of the project involved designing a one-off special livery and the students chose the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation because of its strong links with Southgate. Having designed the bike, the race number had to be decided and the number '3' of Gareth Bale was the most popular choice. The Foundation allowed its strap line to be used and also enabled Gareth to autograph the front mudguard! The special livery design is all airbrushed - no stickers here! The finished bike is a stunning piece of machinery which promotes the values of the Foundation. The students gained unique insight and experience into engineering and design skills whilst the Foundation has an eye-catching attraction to show off.
Andrew Moring, Marketing Director of the Morelli Group was asked to provide a couple of logos to place on the bike as supplier sponsor and takes up the story "We wanted to make sure the design was not compromised and it was agreed that the red on our logo was changed to blue. This is the only time the Morelli logo has been altered in colour and I have to say it looks great on the bike". The bike was put on display in the pre season friendly with Athletic Club Bilbao at the Lane.
